Chapter 6: Restoration equipment and supplies

Restoration work can be faster, safer, more effective and more fun if you have the right tools for the job. Carefully assess what needs to be done and select and source the appropriate size and type of tools and equipment. Local availability may restrict your options, but choose the best available option even if it costs a bit more. If equipment will be used make sure you know how to use it safely. If the site or the work is challenging find an experienced operator with restoration experience or good listening skills. An expert equipment operator can sometimes work wonders with what is available, but only if they understand what is wanted. Invest in good hand tools and equipment and it will perform well for many years.
