Chapter 7: Project management

Restoration project management requires careful planning, organization, leadership and control.  Getting the most from a limited budget demands skillful planning (to do the right things at the right time), organization (to make sure people, plants, seeds, and equipment are ready when needed), leadership (for efficient and enjoyable work) and careful control (to make sure time, money and resources are well spent. Project management is not always given the attention it deserves, but nothing is more important. Start early, stay flexible, and keep careful records and notes to improve the next project. Hold a post project “lessons learned” meeting over lunch at the site.
